Newport Beach

Wednesday, July 29

Back to the beach we go! Janessa's family had a little family reunion in Newport Beach so I just invited myself to become part of their family for the day. Ha! We always say we are sisters, so it just seems fitting that I would join in their family reunion. I don't get to see this girl often enough and I'm so happy we got to play for a day.

I always want to remember little Bird this way. Right now she wears that tutu everywhere we go, every single day. I really did try to get her to take it off for the beach but she insisted. Oh darling girl, how I love you just as you are.

Laguna Beach

Sunday, July 26

I just love the little town of Laguna Beach. It's so charming + the beaches there are some of my favorites. Today we headed out early, grabbed some breakfast in Laguna Beach and then headed to the beach.  I always love when there is a playground on the beach to help keep Tenley distracted from from diving into the ocean. That girl has no fear and it terrifies me!  Also, John and Cathy were with us here today but somehow I didn't get any pictures of them.

Movie & Crackerjack

Saturday, July 25

Tenley is obsessed with the minions from Despicable Me so we have been anxiously waiting for the Minion Movie to come out.  She had never been to a movie theater before and she was pretty amazed by all the popcorn and candy! Yep, she's definitely my child.

She watched the first 30 minutes of the movie really intently, and then we spent the rest of the movie in the hallway running around. But honestly I don't blame her. The movie was pretty slow moving and I found myself getting bored. We had fun taking her to the theater but the movie itself was kind of a letdown.

We went home and put Tenley down for her nap and then headed to Anaheim for a baseball game. I don't get a lot of dates with this man so I was so grateful to Cathy for staying home with Tenley so I could go to the baseball game. And Dave bought me this hat at the game, so I guess now the Angels are officially my team. Go Angels!

Baca & Manya come visit!

Friday, July 24

Dave's parents came to visit for the long Pioneer Day weekend! I wish we celebrated that holiday here in California but at least we get to have visitors and play anyway! While Dave was working I took John & Cathy over to Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga and we shopped and played. Its so fun to have family come visit! Tenley calls  grandpa, "Baca" and grandma is "Manya". Not really sure where that came from but it stuck!

Rule 77 of motherhood:  Always carry a swimsuit in your purse.
Rule 78 of motherhood: Always carry sunscreen with you.
Mom fail on the sunscreen part. Poor little fair skinned child of mine.

Birdy's First Hair Cut

Friday, July 17

Long overdue, but I finally got the strength to take little Birdy in for a haircut. She worked long and hard for that hair so cutting it made me cry a little. She was so happy sitting in the little car chair waiting her turn.
Check out that little kid in the background. haha! Poor guy was not so happy about getting his hair cut.

Happy little girl with her new do! I told the stylist NOT to cut her bangs....but obviously she misunderstood.

4th of July

Sunday, July 5

Happy Independence Day! I just think holidays are so much fun and I love any excuse to have a party and get together with friends and most importantly, eat lots of food!  We had some fun things planned for today, but Tenley had other plans in mind.  Poor little girl woke up with this rash all over her body and it just kept getting worse throughout the day.

Of course all doctors offices were closed for the holiday and I didn't feel like it was urgent enough to rush her to the ER. I called a few friends who are doctors and explained the rash and they all said it was probably just a viral rash that would go away on its own in a couple of days.  The rash just got worse as the day went on, but Tenley didn't seem to notice.
As it started to get dark we went for a little walk around our neighborhood and watched a few fireworks and called it a day.
The next morning she woke up and the rash was completely gone!
